Ex-Interior secretary Ken Salazar to work for tribes at law firm

Former Interior secretary Ken Salazar is joining the WilmerHale law firm.

Salazar plans to represent tribal and other clients. He will open an office for the firm in Colorado, his home state, where he served as U.S. senator and state attorney general.

“I am proud to join WilmerHale, one of the nation’s top law firms,” Salazar said in a press release. “It handles some of the most complex legal matters, and has a longstanding commitment to public service, civil rights and social justice. I look forward to leading WilmerHale’s entry into the Rocky Mountain region, which is integral to the growing national and global economy.”

Salazar led the Interior Department from January 2009 through April 2013. Among other achievements, he helped settle the Cobell trust fund lawsuit and more than 50 tribal trust fund lawsuits. He hosted the yearly White House Tribal Nations Conference at DOI's main building in Washington, D.C.
