Tribal college honors Jonathan Windy Boy, state lawmaker
Salish Kootenai College presented Montana Sen. Jonathan Windy Boy (D) with its Distinguished Service Award.
Windy Boy, a member of the Chippewa Cree Tribe, was recognized for his efforts to help tribal colleges. He secured passage of a law that provides more resources for non-Indian students.
“I was surprised and humbled to receive the award,” Windy Boy told The Havre Daily News of his award.
Windy Boy also serves on his tribe's council.
