Tightrope stunt puts focus on Navajo Nation culture, tourism

The Navajo Nation will be featured prominently on national television as part of a tightrope stunt across the Grand Canyon.

Daredevil Nik Wallenda will walk a 2-inch-wide wire across the canyon during a two-hour special that airs on the Discovery Channel this Sunday. The program will promote the Little Colorado River Tribal Park and other tourist attractions on the reservation.

"When it's all over and done with, we want to develop the site as another viewpoint" to the Grand Canyon, tribal park manager Helen Webster told The Arizona Daily Sun.

The park finally got a much-needed road as part of the production for the stunt.
