Beer distributor changes delivery process for Whiteclay stores

A beer distributor will no longer send delivery trucks to Whiteclay, Nebraska, after running into problems there.

News reports said High Plains Budweiser will send deliveries to Rushville, about 20 miles south of Whiteclay. Retailers in Whiteclay will have to pick up beer shipments there.

The owner of High Plains said someone shot pellets at one of his trucks on Monday. There have been other clashes with drivers.

Whiteclay is just across the border of the Pine Reservation, where alcohol is outlawed. Stores in the town sell millions of cans of beer every year, mainly to members of the Oglala Sioux Tribe.
