Sycuan Band hosting ceremony for approval of land-into-trust

The Sycuan Band of Kumeyaay Indians in California will host a ceremony tomorrow for approval of its land-into-trust application.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs took six years to approve the application, The San Diego Daily Transcript reported. It will add 1,400 acres to the reservation, essentially tripling the size.

The tribe will sign an agreement in which a portion of the land will be jointly managed with the state and te federal government.
