RAPID CITY- Less than 72 hours after the grand opening vandalism hit the new home of the United Tribes Technical College’s Black Hills Learning Center.

The UTTC new Rapid City home is located on Kansas City Street, directly across from the Public Safety building, the Pennington County jail, and the Pennington County courthouse.

Road construction has had the street running along the new Learning Center’s Northside where the majority of the damage was done. Very little information was given by Sgt. Andy Becker of the Rapid City Police Department except that a call came in at 6:22 a.m., Saturday morning.

As of press time, there were no suspects and the RCPD has little information about the crime.

According to Hani Shafai, the president of Rapid City’s Dream Design International, as well as being the property owner of the old NAU facility where the learning center is housed, the damage caused as much as $75,000 in damage.

Shafai has offered a reward of $5,000 for information about the crime.

New student orientation is still being conducted, and classes are still on schedule to begin on Monday, Aug 26.
