Lawsuit seeks to stop Oglala Sioux Tribe from legalizing liquor

Two members of the Oglala Sioux Tribeof South Dakota are seeking to stop the sale of liquor on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

A majority of tribal members voted last month to lift the ban on alcohol. The deadline to challenge the results already passed but a lawsuit was filed in tribal court.

The tribe plans to be the sole vendor for alcohol. Revenues would be used for treatment programs and other services.
