County against San Pasqual Band land-into-trust application

Officials in San Diego, County, are opposing a land-into-trust application submitted by the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians in California.

The tribe filed an application with the Bureau of Indian Affairs for 29 acres. Plans call for offices, a medical clinic, a fire station, and a sports complex.

The county is worried that the development will impact traffic, water and other "sensitive resources," The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

The BIA has been seeking local comments on the application.
