Kickapoo man sentenced to 90 months on child abuse charge

Justin L. Ellis, a member of the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma, was sentenced to 90 months in federal prison for a child abuse incident.

Ellis pleaded guilty to one count of malicious injury. He admitted that he repeatedly burned the buttocks and legs of a four-year-old child with a lit cigarette.

Judge Stephen Friot went above the sentencing guidelines in punishing Ellis, the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma said in a press release.
