The Bureau of Indian Affairs has extended the comment period on a land-into-trust application submitted by the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians in California. Comments are being accepted until November 7. Local officials had been asking for an extension. The tribe filed an application for 1,400 acres. Part of the land will be used for housing.
