Editorial: Give warm welcome to Alaska Federation of Natives

Fairbanks newspapers calls on residents to welcome the Alaska Federation of Natives for the group's upcoming conference:
We’re just a little more than two weeks away from the Alaska Federation of Natives 2013 Convention in Fairbanks, and organizers need a little help ensuring the event goes well for the thousands of people who will arrive from across the state.

Volunteers can spell success for the Fairbanks convention (Oct. 24-26) and the associated Elders and Youth Conference (Oct. 21-23). That’s important because we want the convention to return to Fairbanks for many years to come.

It’s not just an economic boost to the city at the end of tourism season; it’s an unrivaled cultural event that helps connect all corners of Alaska, even if they happen to sit, like Fairbanks, in the center of the state. Those connections ultimately make Fairbanks and all of Alaska a more interesting, vibrant place to live.
