Family sues BIA for death at Lower Brule Sioux detention facility

The Bureau of Indian Affairs is being sued for a death at a detention facility on the Lower Brule Sioux Reservation in South Dakota.

Sheldon Solomon died after being taken to the facility in August 2011. His family said detention officers failed to check on him despite knowing he was heavily intoxicated.

The family is seeking $2.08 million in damages.
