Pokagon Band looks to diversify economic development options

The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians in Michigan is diversifying its economy.

The tribe's Mno-Bmadsen owns three companies -- an architecture firm, an engineering firm and a gas station / convenience store. A fourth business is being acquired.

"Basically, what we are targeting is, we want to buy companies that are doing well," Troland Clay, the president and CEO of Mno-Bmadsen, told The Herald Palladium.

Mno-Bmadsen, which means "walking the good path" in Potawatomi, hopes to become profitable in 2015.
