Eastern Shoshone Tribe stifled due to lack of quorum on council

The Eastern Shoshone Tribe of Wyoming lacks a quorum on the business council, making it impossible to make certain decisions, Chairman Darwin St. Clair Jr. said.

The council currently has just four members following the death of one member and the removal of two more by the tribe's general council. So the council can't vote on important matters.

“That could include but not limited to enrollment, our tribal enrollment, our contracts that we have with various government and or businesses, any financial requests, any kind of correspondence that we may agree to, settlement disbursements, any petitions,” St. Clair told Wyoming Public Media.

A special election to fill one vacant seat will be held next week. Meanwhile, the tribe is looking to replace its attorney general, who was also removed by the general council.
