The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians plans to open a new health facility in spring 2015. Construction on the $55 million Choctaw Health Center began in September 2013. There were some recent weather delays but work is expected to wrap up by the end of this year. "Things are going well," project manager Stephen Hockins told The Neshoba Democrat. "We're confident we'll get the roof and walls up soon. Everything is catch-up-able." The 178,000 square-foot, 20-bed center will have a 36-room outpatient department, 18-chair dental department, several treatment rooms, an emergency department, treatment facilities, emergency medical services, behavioral health and community and public health services. It's more than twice the size of the tribe's current health facility. The tribe signed an agreement with the Indian Health Service to fast-track the project. Get the Story:
