Meskwaki Tribe ready to start construction on $6M travel plaza

The Meskwaki Tribe of Iowa plans to open a $6 million travel plaza this fall.

The tribe held a ground blessing ceremony for the project on Monday. The 10,000 square-foot Meskwaki Travel Plaza will feature a gas station, convenience store, smoke shop and diner.

"This is another big step in economic development for our Tribe," Chair Judith Bender said at the ceremony, The Tama News-Herald reported.
