BIA to add two names to police officer memorial in New Mexico

The Bureau of Indian Affairs will hold the 23rd Annual Indian Country Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Service this week.

The Indian Country Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Artesia, New Mexico, features the names of tribal and federal officers who have died in the line of duty. This year, two names are being added to the monument, bringing the total number to 103.
• Alaska State Trooper and Village Public Safety Officer Thomas O. Madole who on March 19, 2013, succumbed to bullet wounds while handling an altercation incident in the community of Manokotak, Alaska.
• Sergeant Robert W. Baron of the Sandoval County, N.M., Sheriff’s Office who on December 6, 2013, succumbed to injuries he sustained the previous day after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 25 near the Pueblo of San Felipe.

This year's service takes place at 10am Mountain time on Thursday. It will be broadcast live at www.ksvpradio.com/BIA and use the password biamemorial.
