The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and the Jackson Zoo held a naming ceremony for eight endangered red wolf puppies.

Chief Phyliss Anderson named the largest pup, Nokshópa Iksho, which means "No Fear" in the Choctaw language. The Choctaw Elderly Center gave the name Tashka Tík, meaning "Female Warrior," to the dominant pup.

Choctaw students named the other six pups. One of them died -- his name was Nashoba Hilóha, or "Thunder Wolf."

In related news, the tribe is holding its 65th annual Choctaw Indian Fair from July 9-12.
