Seven candidates file papers to run for Navajo Nation president

Seven people are running to serve as the next leader of the Navajo Nation.

President Ben Shelly is seeking a second term in office. He's running with Vice President Rex Lee Jim.

Former president Joe Shirley is also running. He previously served two terms.

The other candidates are: Myron McLaughlin, Christopher C. Deschene, Dale Edison Tsosie, Donald Benally and Kenneth Maryboy.

The primary takes place August 26. The top two candidates will advance to the general election on November 4.
