Jemez Pueblo woman sentenced to probation in theft from tribe

A woman from Jemez Pueblo in New Mexico was sentenced to five years probation for stealing from the tribe.

Mary Cathy Sabado, 48, pleaded guilty to charges of embezzlement and theft from a tribal organization. She admitted she stole more than $18,000 when she worked a coordinator for the tribe.

A hearing will be scheduled to determine the amount of restitution Sabado must pay, the U.S. Attorney's Office in New Mexico said in a press release.
