The Assembly of First Nations will elect a new national chief in December. The organization has been without an elected leader since the resignation of Shawn Atleo in May. He came under fire for his support of the First Nations Control of First Nations Education Act, which most Native leaders and educators opposed, saying it was drafted without their input and consent. The election will take place during a meeting in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Get the Story:
