A judge in Montana dismissed a rape charge that was filed against a housing official from the Fort Peck Tribes.

Prosecutors asked for the case against Darren Jon Longhair, 24, to be dismissed "in the interest of justice," The Billings Gazette reported. He had been accused of raping a maid at a hotel in Billings last month.

"CHARGE DISMISSED," Longhair said on his Facebook page. "Just got the legal documents, and there is no longer a charge pending against me. Thank you to everybody who knew from the start, that i would never do anything like that. Its time to clear my name."

Longhair and his attorney said the investigation showed there was no basis for the allegation against him.
