Another pipeline has spilled saltwater on the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation in North Dakota, the Associated Press reports.

Details are scarce but the pipeline is operated by Crestwood Midstream Services Inc. That's the same company that owns the pipeline that ruptured in early July, spilling about 1 million gallons of extremely salty water, a byproduct of oil and gas development, near Bear Den Bay.

The new spill appears to have occurred near Skunk Creek Bay or a tributary. the AP said. Some 3,000 barrels have leaked into the ground but there is no information about the potential danger to Lake Sakakawea.

The first spill is being cleaned up but the tribe has not released results of soil and water tests. Edmund Baker, the tribe's environmental director, said the public has been kept “in the absolute dark” about the incident, the AP reported.
