A former employee of a tribally-owned corporation in Oklahoma was sentenced to one year and one day for embezzlement.

Robin Jean Bitseedy was the office manager for WCD Enterprises, a corporation charted by the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes, the Caddo Nation and the Delaware Tribe. She admitted she used a tribal credit card for personal purposes and wrote checks to herself with forged signatures.

Bitseedy will start serving her prison sentence on January 9, 2015. She was ordered to pay $141,820.47 in restitution to the tribes.

The tribes formed WCD to pursue business opportunities. Terri Parton, the president of the Wichita Tribes, serves as chair of the company and she said the company is trying to get back off the ground after having very few meetings in 2013.

"During that time, there were significant issues that began to come up regarding the operation of WCD Enterprises," Parton wrote in the July 2014 issue of the tribal newsletter. "We now have insurance to cover theft."
