National Congress of American Indians President Brian Cladoosby will deliver the State of Indian Nations address later this month.

Cladoosby will deliver the speech at 1pm on January 22 at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. He will reflect on the past year in Indian Country and outline opportunities to improve the nation-to-nation between Native peoples and the United States.

The event marks Cladoosby's second State of Indian Nations since he won election as the leader of the nation's largest inter-tribal organization in October 2013. It comes amid major change in the Capitol -- Republicans now control both chambers of Congress and have already clashed with the White House.

A member of Congress is due to provide a response to the speech. Republicans and Democrats have provided remarks in years past but NCAI has not yet announced this year's guest.
