City to enter into public transit contract with Mississippi Choctaws

The city of Meridian is entering into a public transportation contract with the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.

The city will pay the tribe $75,000 a year for an on-demand bus service that will operate three days a week. Choctaw Transit will operate the service.

The contract will run for a year.
