Citizens of the Chickasaw Nation can now buy their tribal car tags at locations across Oklahoma.

Elder Pauline Brown, a Chickasaw Nation Hall of Fame inductee, was among the first in line when the tags went on sale on Monday. Her tag number is 205.

"I’m really proud. It shows how far we have advanced," Brown, 84, said in a press release.

The tribe signed a car tag compact with the state last year. Tribal members pay the same fees as other residents but will receive a rebate from the tribe for a portion of the fees.
