A construction firm owned by the Nisqually Tribe of Washington is facing scrutiny after a fatal accident on Monday. Crews from WHH Nisqually Federal Services were working on a $1.8 million sidewalk project when a concrete wall fell from a highway overpass. Three people -- who were identified by local news reports as a young couple and their infant son -- were killed. "It's an unfortunate accident," WHH Nisqually general manager Jon Kirk told KOMO. "And, it's under investigation. That's all I can say at this time." WHH Nisqually was awarded the contract in December, The Tacoma News-Tribune reported. The firm also has a contract for another transportation project, KOMO reported. WHH Nisqually has no reported violations or issues. But a subcontractor that was hired for the sidewalk project was cited by the state in 2012 for "serious" violations on a different project, KOMO reported.
