Youth from three tribes will spend part of their summer in the territory of their ancestors. The 15 young members of the Delaware Nation of Oklahoma, the Delaware Tribe of Oklahoma and the Stockbridge-Munsee Community in Wisconsin will spend 10 days in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The park is located on ancestral Delaware, or Lenape, territory in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. "We’re really excited about it,” Kristy Boscheinen, the head of the park’s Special Projects Division, told The Pocono Record. “It is quite an honor for us.” The project was made possible by a grant from the federal-private Centennial Initiative plus additional funds from the park itself.
