An isolated tribe in Peru is being blamed for a fatal attack while members of another remote community are battling a deadly epidemic.

The Peruvian Ministry of Culture said a group of people from the Mashco Piro Tribe attacked and killed a man last Friday. The previously isolated community has been seen with increasing frequency in the last few months.

Meanwhile, at least four children from the Nanti Tribe have died from a disease that appears to be spreading. Like the Mashco Piro, the Nanti were previously unknown to outsiders.

In addition to disease, isolated tribes in the Amazon face threats from loggers, ranchers and drug traffickers.
