Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa in Wisconsin is seeking to add a K-9 unit to its police force, NNCNOW reports.

Police chief Bill Mertig said a K-9 unit will help address drug trafficking on the reservation. Heroin and methamphetamine use have exploded in the last several months.

Mertig is seeking to raise funds to purchase a dog and train someone to handle the dog.
