MARTIN—Throughout the course of 2015 there have been some major changes at Lakota Country Times. Despite the change LCT managed to take home a number of awards from the South Dakota Newspaper Association.

In the advertising department LCT won awards for Best advertising sales tool and Best Newspaper promotion. In the writing categories LCT had a strong showing with Dana Lone Hill beating out these rest of the state in the Best General Interest Column. Karin Eagle took home a second place award in the Best news story and Brandon Ecoffey managed to secure a third place finish in the Best Sports Series category despite only starting work at LCT the week prior to the 2015 deadline for entries.

“It is a sign that LCT is evolving and improving. In this business you either evolve or you die and we do not plan on going away anytime soon. There is plenty of talent at LCT and over the course of this next year we will continue to gel as a team and produce news that is relevant to our local readers. The sky is the limit for this organization and I expect us to continue to get better at providing this much needed service to our community,” said LCT editor, Brandon Ecoffey.

Longtime LCT veteran, Jerry Matthews, also secured a first place finish for his stellar work with his camera. He took home the award for Best Photo Series.

Although LCT took home the first place award for Best Website in past contests owner and publisher Connie Smith was more than pleased with the paper’s 2nd place finish in the Newspaper Website category.

“We continue to improve our site for our readers benefit and their response has always been very encouraging,” says Ms. Smith.
