A member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota pleaded guilty on Tuesday to two child abuse charges.

Michelle Lynae Wounded Face, 25, admitted that she left two daughters, aged 2 and 4, alone in a car on a freezing-cold day in January. The incident occurred on the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation in North Dakota.

"When asked about where her children were, the defendant made comments about 'sending them up' and when she was asked if she intended for her children to be dead when she returned to her vehicle she said 'honestly, yeah,'" according to a plea agreement that was filed in advance of yesterday's hearing.

Wounded Face faces up to 10 years for the two child abuse charges. A sentencing date has not been set.
