Scandal after scandal rocks SD’s government

Several weeks ago, our columnist Delphine Red Shirt wrote about how often program funds designed to assist Native American students often ends up in the hands of corrupt individuals.

The mainstream media is often too hasty to blame the misuse of state or federal dollars on the Indian programs, but take a hard look at what is happening in Pierre, South Dakota’s capitol.

First of all there is a lot of skeletons still hiding in the closets of the EB-5 program and since South Dakota has a one-party government, Republicans, the apparent deception and possible fraud is buried. The program started under the watch of former governor and now Senator Mike Rounds. There are several million dollars unaccounted for and the program was handled so badly by state officials that South Dakota was kicked out of the program.
