The South Dakota Legislature will host the inuagural State of the Tribes address next week. Chairman Harold Frazier of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe will deliver the address at 1:30pm Central on January 14. It marks the first time that state lawmakers have convened a joint session to hear from a tribal leader. "I’m excited to be part of this historic event," Sen. Troy Heinert (D), the assistant minority leader in the Senate, said in a press release. "As a tribal member, I look forward to hearing Chairman Frazier address a joint session of the Legislature. I feel that only good things can come from this as we increase opportunities to learn from and about each other, and foster a government to government relationship for the good of all of South Dakota’s citizens."
