The pep squads at two public high schools in Connecticut have eliminated their "Indian" imagery.

"The Rez" pep club at Hall High School now be known as "Hall Super Fans" until a new name is chosen, The Hartford Courant reported. As for the Conard High School, the club dropped "The Tribe" for ""The Red C," the paper said.

The pep squad names persisted even though both schools changed their logos at the start of the current school year. Hall replaced its "Warrior" with a "W" while Conard changed the "Chieftains" to the red-colored "C."

The Conard student newspaper was also known as "PowWow" but it was changed to "Wow!Pow!"
