The new president of South Dakota State University is Barry Dunn, a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. Dunn, 62, is an alumnus of the university. He plans to strengthen relationships with tribal colleges in order to offer more educational opportunities for tribal students. "I feel very committed to using that time wisely and in an impactful manner, really in honor of my mother, to do everything I can," Dunn told The Sioux Falls Argus Leader. Dunn's mother was a tribal member and he lived on the reservation for 17 years, the paper reported. His first day on the job will be May 23. Get the Story:
