The Forest County Potawatomi Tribe of Wisconsin hosted a unique graduation ceremony for some of its employees on Wednesday.

The tribe entered into a partnership with Nicolet College to offer classes to employees. After starting classes last fall, the students graduated with certificates in communication.

"We were especially proud because the cohort of students stuck together as a group, their persistence was great," Dr. Richard Nelson, the president of the college, said at the ceremony, WXPR reported.

The students were able to take the classes at tribal facilities in Crandon so they didn't have to commute to the college campus in Rhinelander. The arrangement allowed them to focus on their jobs and their families in addition to advancing their education.

"The commitment that they make to their families and also to their job, there was no what comes first, what goes second they were able to do the classes right here during the work day," administrator Eugene Shawano Jr. said, WJFW reported.

Some 30 employees graduated, WJJQ reported.
