The tribe's education department recognized 57 Apache students who maintained a 4.0 grade point average. They were presented with certificates of achievement and inducted into the national society, The White Mountain Independent reported.

The National Native American Honors Society was founded by Frank Dukepoo, who was the first member of the Hopi Tribe to earn a Ph.D.
