Cherokee player Koda Glover wins praise in major league debut


Koda Glover made his Major League Baseball debut on Wednesday and wowed fans and fellow players with his pitching skills.

Glover, who is Cherokee, was called up by the Washington Nationals just a day prior to his official arrival on the mound. He easily dispatched all three batters before him in just four pitches, helping the team secure a 8-1 win against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

"I'm running on fumes right now, but it's all good," Glover told MLB.Com after his strong showing. "Luckily, I've been blessed with opportunities the Nationals have given me. ... It's been a fantastic journey. I couldn't be happier about it."

Glover, 23, was born and raised in Oklahoma, according to his biography on Oklahoma State University. His father is the coach for the baseball team at Heavener High School in Heavener. His mother is Bobbi Jo Glover.
