A California man is due in court on Monday to face charges in connection with the brutal beating and robbery of a disabled member of the Nisqually Tribe.

Corey Joe Foye, 25, is accused of striking the 54-year-old victim numerous times in the face and head on July 12, The Alpenhorn News reported. He allegedly fled the scene with the victim's wheelchair, which was later found nearly destroyed, the paper said.

Authorities also said Foye took the victim's hand carved walking sticks and canes, which the victim sells to earn a living, the paper reported.

Foye has been charged with robbery and assault likely to cause great bodily injury of death to a dependent adult. The dependent adult charge stems from the victim's physical limitations.

Foye is due in San Bernardino County Superior Court on Monday morning, according to online records from the sheriff's department.

The Nisqually Tribe is based in Washington.
