The Forest County Potawatomi Community is doling out more political cash in Wisconsin this year.

According to the non-partisan Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, the Potawatomi PAC donated more than $70,000 to legislative fundraising committees and candidates in the first seven months of 2016. That's more than the tribe contributed during the prior six years combined.

The group doesn't know why the tribe has ramped up its spending this year. The tribe did not comment when asked by Public News Service.
