Shinnecock Nation chooses four members for council of trustees

Voters of the Shinnecock Nation elected four members to the tribe's council of trustees.

According to news reports, Charles Smith II, Randy King, Dan Collins Sr. and Terrell Terry were the top vote-getters in the election, which took place on Tuesday. Smith and King are former members of the council while Collins and Terry are incumbents.

The winning candidates will join three other members of the council. Elections take place every year.

The tribe's reservation is located on the far east end of Long Island in New York. The tribe's federal recognition was finalized in October 2010.
