Leaders of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs address the National Congress of American Indians on February 14, 2022.

Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) and Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) serve as chair and vice chair, respectively, of the committee. In pre-recorded videos, they discuss the introduction of a bipartisan bill to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act, which recognizes tribal jurisdiction over non-Indians who commit crimes against women and children.

The videos were played during NCAI’s executive council winter session, held virtually due to COVID-19.
