COVID-19 in Indian Country
The National Congress of American Indians and the National Indian Education Association express deep concern regarding reopening plans for Bureau of Indian Education schools and the safety and health of all students, teachers, administrators, and community members.
The Indian Health Service has updated its coronavirus data, showing 37,103 COVID-19 cases as of August 13, 2020.
The total number of COVID-19 positive cases is 9,412 and negative tests total 73,735 as of August 14, 2020. More than 6,900 have recovered from the coronavirus on the largest reservation in the United States.
