Virtual Bears Ears Summer Gathering 2020 – #BearsEarsStrong

For Immediate Release: September 4, 2020

BEARS EARS NATIONAL MONUMENT – Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not physically gather at Bears Ears this summer. However, it does not mean we cannot celebrate our connections to this amazing cultural landscape. Please join us in taking our annual event “virtual” this weekend!

Virtual means watching online from your computers, phones or other devices. Join us tomorrow, September 5th and Sunday, September 6th at 3 PM MST for our 2020 Virtual Bears Ears Summer Gathering. Visit our Facebook “Event” Page or UDB’s website for more information on the agenda and to access the Zoom Link.

We have an exciting agenda for you, which features two Indigenous leaders’ panels that explore 1) the evolution of the Bears Ears National Monument from then until now, and 2) women’s voices panel on Bears Ears. We will also launch an exciting video reel, where you will hear from us about our work during these COVID-19 times. #BearsEarsStrong is our official hashtag!

As we celebrate our connections to Bears Ears virtually, let us remember that we can still practice our subsistence lifeways from our own homes. Set up a campfire for some storytelling, laugh, and share knowledge from your own socially distanced space to celebrate the strength who you are and where you come from. We are #BearsEarsStrong, and it is our strength that will get us to where we need to go.
