Editorial: Tribal gaming pays for new health clinic

"A triumph of planning and commitment by the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe was dedicated Saturday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a dazzling new health and wellness center on the reservation.

The 95,000-square-foot facility owes a debt of thanks to the gamblers a half-dozen miles back down the road toward Auburn. Proceeds from the tribe's casino will cover the $19.3 million cost and $8 million estimated annual operating budget. Ground was broken in September 2003 for the combined clinic and wellness center, but the idea has been in the works since 1998."
