Big Sandy Rancheria loses gaming partner

The Big Sandy Rancheria in California has lost Harrah's Entertainment as its partner in an off-reservation casino.

The tribe says Harrah's dropped out because federal officials are dispute who has the right to make Indian land determinations. The Bureau of Indian Affairs and the National Indian Gaming Commission are both involved in the process.

The tribe may land another partner, however. The Rank Group is said to be interested in bringing a Hard Rock casino to the site.

The tribe currently operates operates casino on its reservation is seeking another casino on a 48-acre Indian allotment about 16 miles from the reservation.
