The New Jersey casino shutdown only lasted a couple of days but it boosted revenue and traffic at Connecticut's two tribal casinos.
Foxwoods Resort Casino, owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, saw 23 percent increase in bus traffic and a double-digit increase in foot traffic and restaurant business. Mohegan Sun, owned by the Mohegan Tribe, saw slot revenue go up more than 10 percent on Wednesday, the first day of the shutdown, from an average Wednesday in July.
The Atlantic City casinos are back open again but executives at the tribal casinos say they will continue to target the New York and New Jersey markets.
