Union loses grievance for Pequot casino employee shuttle bus

An arbitrator has ruled for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut in a labor union dispute.

The tribe cut service for an employee bus shuttle, citing cost concerns. UAW at Foxwoods said the move violated its union contract, which was negotiated under tribal law.

Arbitrator Tim Bornstein determined that the contract calls on the tribe to provide "all employees with free off-site parking and shuttle service of adequate frequency," The New London Day reported. But he also said the tribe can make adjustments as long as "such changes are not arbitrary and capricious."
